From the recording Love Will Remain
[BEHIND THE SONG]
I wrote this song as an unwritten love letter from my amazing Dad to my Mom.
Dad was the healthiest man I knew and his illness came out of nowhere.
You hear stories like this, but you never expect it to happen to you. š
One day youāre planning family trips, playing pillow fight with the grandkids, and sitting across from each other at a coffee shop rolling your eyes with a slight smile after a good ādad jokeāā¦
The next day, the Doctor says he has stage 4 pancreatic cancer and it could be weeks or months.
A ārecord scratchā moment would be an understatement.
This song is what I imagine he would say to her now. ā¤ļøāš©¹
āāāāā
When a friend asked my Mom how she was doingā¦
She said softly, āI just lost my husband of 48 years.ā
š
To say his diagnosis rocked our entire family would be an understatement.
Last year I asked Dad what he loves most about Mom.
āGirls I had dated before we met were always trying to get away from family. She wasnāt like that. Sheās always been someone I can count on.ā
True to her nature, my mom is someone I can always count on.
I wrote this song for her. ā¤ļø
Knowing he would want her to LIVE.
To be HAPPY.
To do all the things theyād planned for retirement togetherā¦
The name of the song is āPROMISE ME THISā and I hope this inspires you as much as it inspired me when I wrote it. āØ
Lyrics
Well this came out of nowhere
An unexpected fate
I think we need to sit here
And plan the coming days
Sounds like Iām not going to be here for long
Man oh man, I hope the doctor is wrong
But promise me thisā¦
I want you to live
To be happy
I want you to risk and soar
For what life has to give
Promise me thisā¦
My death wonāt beā¦ yours
Youāre stronger than you think
Iāve always loved that in you
Iāll prepare everything
So it wonāt all fall on you
And on the worst of the worst days
Just know
āTil we meet again youāll never be alone
So promise me thisā¦
Promise me thisā¦
I want you to live
To be happy
I want you to risk and soar
For what life has to give
Promise me thisā¦
My death wonāt beā¦ yours
Do all the things we planned
Even if Iām not holding your hand
Know Iām there
Ohhhh, Iām there
I want you to live
To be happy
I want you to risk and soar
For what life has to give
Promise me this...
My death wonāt beā¦ yours
My death wonāt beā¦ yours
